Welcome to Pharos Cloud#
Welcome to the Pharos Cloud help documentation.
Pharos Cloud has been designed to manage and monitor Pharos devices remotely, as well as providing the ability to run triggers and schedule actions. This documentation covers everything you need to get started with Cloud, as well as information regarding advanced features.
If you are setting up a site for the first time, start with the Quick start.
Before you begin#
Every device needs an outgoing connection to the Internet over its Ethernet port. No additional hardware is required.
Because the connection is outgoing, it works with the default configuration of most firewalls, and avoids the exposure that comes with opening up a network for inbound access.
Devices must be running a minimum firmware version - see Supported devices for the current baseline per family.
If your network restricts outbound access, see Network requirements.
Note
Pharos Cloud has an advanced permissions and role structure. Some of the features in this document may not be available or function as described in this document depending on your user permissions. The document is authored from the perspective of a Site Owner, which is someone who has all permissions in a site.
Getting a Cloud site#
You can sign up at any time, including before buying a site plan. Complete the sign-up form and we will create a free site for you in Construction mode, ready for you to start adding devices during installation.
If you have an Express Control, scan the QR code on the serial label or the product packaging to get an extended trial.
To understand what each site mode allows, see How Cloud works.
Keeping up to date#
Cloud is a service, so new features reach you without you installing anything. Due to the nature of Pharos Cloud as a product, tweaks and improvements may be made at any moment. This document may not be entirely accurate at the moment these updates go live. Please see the bottom of this page for the latest review date.
Portal owners#
If you own a Portal, there are additional features and settings which this document doesn't display by
default. To enable that, switch to Portal owner in the settings menu at the top of any page.
Portal owner is currently enabled, which means additional Portal-only features and information are displayed.
Switch to Site owner in the settings menu at the top of any page to hide Portal-only
information.
