Administration#
Portal owners have special access to features which makes managing a portal straightforward.
Permissions#
Portal owners have access to a dedicated permissions menu item. This presents permissions across the three available permissions contexts:
- Sites
- Multi-sites
- Portal
Sites and Multi-Sites give a single convenient interface to be able to adjust permissions across different sites from a single location without needing to go into each site to make changes. Add or remove sites from the list to manage them.
Portal gives a portal owner access to a whole portal context for permissions. Generally, all permissions in this view grant the selected user that permission in the given context, though there are some special cases outlined later where permissions enable additional features.
For example, a user with the permission Portal:User:Add will have the ability to add users to any site they can view across the whole portal, regardless of permissions granted in that site.
This is incredibly useful when managing users who need the same level of access across a whole portal. For example, you might want to have engineers who manage sites to have the same base set of permissions across all sites they are part of. The only administration when adding those engineers to a site is just to add them and then grant any additional permissions for a site.
Just like other permission views, permissions can be copied between users by selecting the user's initials at the top of the permissions column.
Note that any users with any permissions granted at portal level will be able to view all portal permissions.
